Ajenta work with Actionaid an international organisation, with 1000’s of volunteers worldwide who are growing and currently work with over 15 million people in 45 countries.
Headquartered in Johannesburg, they are the only international development organisation with a head office based in Africa. They also have offices right across Asia, the Americas and Europe. Ajenta are proud to help them connect thousands of users globally, sometimes in remote locations.
I was honoured to be asked to deliver a technical presentation at the ActionAid Global IT conference in Bangkok. Having worked closely with the HQ in Johannesburg they were keen to understand what we had done and how we could replicate that across the other regions.
Unfortunately, two weeks before there was a serious terrorist attack in the tourist area of the city. It was uncertain momentarily if the conference would go ahead. It suddenly dawned on me that I should be practicing what I preach and demonstrating the wonders of the platform live over video as a virtual presenter. They loved the idea and I set about working out what they main challenges would be.
Being a virtual presenter and demonstrating my technology, my thoughts now turned to how to avoid technical glitches whilst ensuring technology had a chance to shine.
Setting up from Edinburgh remotely with Bangkok had its challenges, but with the right diligence the presentation went smoothly and the technology spoke for itself. The presentation went swimmingly and joining remotely only emphasised the quality and reliability of the platform.
Actionaid are now considering this method of ‘virtual events’ for other activities across other events and activities.
ActionAid are a leading charity that have to quickly respond to a wide variety of global crisis. Having a reliable line of communication such as video ensures the team can make decisions faster than ever before.
Ajenta work with Actionaid included the Ajenta Cloud Vidyo platform which powers the ActionAid collaboration portal. It includes full interoperability across many technology vendors as well as HD recording and webcasting.
