Capita partner with Ajenta to offer Video Collaboration services to Scottish Public Sector on SWAN

Capita plc, in partnership with Ajenta, launch the Vscene video collaboration service as a strategic addition to the SWAN portfolio of services.

With a highly resilient network servicing approximately 6,000 sites across Scotland and 52 member organisations which includes nearly 50% of local authorities, a number of Scottish Government agencies and all NHS boards, the Scottish public sector is now in an excellent position to embed video collaboration into the digital transformation journey.

Vscene, which has its heritage in the JANET video service (JVCS) has been rebuilt from the ground up by the Edinburgh based SME. The development team created a video platform that allows participants to connect from a wide range of devices including room-based video, web browsers and Microsoft’s Skype for Business. This is complimented by features such as shared whiteboards, presence, streaming and archiving and a roadmap of new features that will be offered during the coming years.  The service is already well established in the further and higher education sectors with over 10,000 organisations and 250,000 users participating in 200,000 hours of video sessions each month. The Vscene service helps in the delivery of teaching and learning through immersive video and content delivery.

Extending Vscene 2.0 to Scottish Public Sector offers access to a mature and operationally stable service for SWAN members delivered directly into SWAN’s data centres providing unrivalled end to end performance and service levels providing users an enhanced and guaranteed video experience.

Jim Crawford, Business Development Director SWAN, said: “The plan for SWAN was always to be more than a network and our partnership with Ajenta reinforces this commitment.  From the outset the strategy has been to provide a range of additional services to support the public sector delivery and transformation. Video collaboration is a true multi sectoral solution than can support everything from Health and Social Care to Life Long Learning.    Working with SMEs like Ajenta is also key in Capita’s support of Scotland and driving forward digital skills for a better Scotland.”

John Wilson, CEO, Ajenta, said: “The partnership with SWAN creates a great opportunity for the public sector in Scotland to access the Vscene service across a truly resilient and secure network. It creates great opportunity for growth and innovation around education and healthcare made possible through participation and collaboration within the SWAN community.”
